Welcome to the 2012-2013 School Year!

We're back in the swing of things and I have to tell you, I'm BEYOND excited to get some momentum for Red Thread on campus at Weber State. After our president's graduation last fall, we got a little behind and let the club fall to the side. But! We! Are! Back!

At this point for the school year, our goals are mainly focused on individual voices and classroom information. While there may be tabling, we want to be sure to spread the message on an individual basis.

It is so important to continue the discussion of sex trafficking and how to prevent it. The Red Thread focuses on the Nepalese victims because the criminals who engage in sex trafficking use Nepal culture to victimize these women.

It is important to remember that this is a crime that happens all over the world and most often to women and children. However, many people do not know. Wearing a red thread bracelet will bring awareness to the issue, and give you a talking point to discuss how to help. $3 doesn't seem like much, but it can make a difference to at least 3 people - the girl you rescued, the person who asks you about your bracelet, and of course, YOU.

Chalking the quad at Weber State University

View of the bell tower from the ribboned quad

What is more fun than spending your sunday night at home? CHALKING! The Red Thread club met on Campus today to tie ribbons, chalk statistics (did you know 12 million girls are missing from India due to discrimination and son preference?), and discuss the upcoming weeks selling schedule.

All in all, it was successful AND fun!
If you are on campus this week, come find us, buy a bracelet,
and support the Red Thread!
